On 7 July 2025, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) released a study addressing the management of tourism in overcrowded destinations. The report outlines six recommended actions for sustainable destination management: Get Organised, Make a Plan, Gather the Evidence, Stay Vigilant, Invest Wisely, and Empower Residents. It encourages private sector involvement in supporting tourism development that aligns with the needs of local communities. The report also includes case studies of destinations that have implemented measures to address contributing factors.
