The European Commission is embarking on a mission to revolutionize European tourism statistics, and they need your input! The original Regulation (EU) No 692/2011 laid the groundwork for producing and disseminating tourism data across Europe. However, to keep pace with the rapidly changing tourism landscape, the Commission is proposing an amendment to this regulation.
The goal? To produce more comprehensive, timely, and cost-effective tourism statistics while reducing the burden on respondents. This initiative aims to address new user needs and integrate innovative data sources and methods into the statistical production process.
The Commission has launched two key initiatives to gather insights from stakeholders: a Call for Evidence and a Public Consultation. Both are designed to capture the challenges, potential solutions, and priorities from those involved in the production of tourism statistics.
Call for Evidence:This initiative highlights the current issues and objectives, seeking general feedback on innovative approaches and data sources. It's a golden opportunity for producers of European tourism statistics to share their expertise and recommendations.
Public Consultation:Here, participants can fill out a structured questionnaire that dives into specific questions, asking respondents to rank their priorities for future statistics.
Both initiatives provide a platform for you to contribute to the future of European tourism statistics. The deadline for submissions is 22 July 2026. Don't miss this opportunity to impact the future!
