The European Travel Commission (ETC), in partnership with Tourism Economics, published a report in July 2025 analysing the performance of the European tourism sector in the second quarter of the year. The report indicates that the sector experienced moderate growth, with international arrivals increasing by 3.3% year-on-year, while overnight stays declined by 0.7%.

Despite elevated operational costs and ongoing geopolitical challenges, travel activity continued to expand. Destinations such as Malta (+19%), Cyprus (+16%), and several countries in Central and Eastern Europe recorded notable increases in visitor numbers. The report also highlights ongoing issues related to tourism distribution and sustainability, as evidenced by recent demonstrations in various European cities.

The document emphasises the importance of developing more resilient and balanced tourism strategies across the region. It also provides data and insights intended to support destination managers and industry professionals in tracking short-term tourism trends and identifying key travel patterns across Europe.

The full report is accessible via the link provided on the left-hand side of the platform.
